How did PREPT come about?

PREPT was built in Australia by an electrician who understands what it feels like to start a job without having all the information you need.

My name is Matt, and I’m an Australian electrician with experience across multiple industries. Like a lot of tradies and technicians, I’ve worked in environments where the job itself is only one part of the challenge. The other part is knowing where to find the right information before you start.

When I first moved into the rail industry, I had electrical experience — but rail was a completely different world.

There were new systems, new equipment, new procedures, new risks, and a lot of unfamiliar tasks. Even when useful information already existed within the company, finding it was not always easy. Previous breakdown history, drawings, guides, manuals, procedures, photos, notes and technical resources were often spread across different systems, folders, intranet pages or old records - Sometimes the information was there. The hard part was finding it quickly enough to actually use it on the job.

That experience is what led to PREPT.

PREPT is designed to help workers start each job better prepared. It gives tradies, technicians and site workers a place to organise task details, documents, procedures, checklists, notes, evidence and resources before work begins.

The idea is simple: if the right information is easier to access, the job becomes clearer, safer and less stressful.

PREPT is not built to be another bloated office system. It is built for the worker on the ground — the person who has to understand the task, find the right resources, follow the correct process, capture evidence and get the job done.

Whether you are starting in a new industry, working on unfamiliar equipment, completing a task you have not done in a while, or just trying to keep your job information organised, PREPT is designed to help bring the important details together.

The goal is simple - Less searching. More doing.

PREPT is still growing, and it is being built with real trade and site experience behind it. Feedback from workers, tradies and technicians will help shape what it becomes.

It is an Australian-built tool created from real frustration, real experience, and a genuine belief that workers deserve better access to the information they need before starting the job.
